1 rabbit saw 9 elephants while going to the river. Every elephant saw 3 monkeys going toward the river

Question: 1 rabbit saw 9 elephants while going to the river. Every elephant saw 3 monkeys going toward the river. Each monkey had 1 parrot in each hand. How many animals are going toward the river?

Answer: The correct answer is 10.

1 rabbit saw 9 elephants.

Every elephant saw 3 monkeys going toward the river. This means elephants saw 27 monkeys as 9 x 3.

Each monkey had one parrot in each hand. This means on monkey had two hands. So, there are six parrots.

The question is “How many animals are going towards are river”.  The first statement says that one rabbit saw 9 elephants while going towards the river. It is important to note that the elephants are not going to the river.

The answer to this is 1 rabbit + 3 monkeys + 6 parrots = 10 animals are going towards the river.

  1. the answer should be 4. 1 Rabbit, 3 monkeys. It does not say the elephants were going toward the river. It does not say the elephants saw 3 different monkeys ie. they all saw the same 3 monkeys and parrots are not animals, they are birds.
