In which country can you find the world’s largest wooden structure?

Belgium

The Netherlands

Norway

Spain

Answer: The correct answer is Spain.

Measuring an astounding 492 feet long, 246 feet wide, and 92 feet high, “Las Setas de Sevilla,” also known as the Metropol Parasol in Seville, Spain, is not only the world’s largest structure made entirely of wood, but also the largest wooden structure bonded primarily by glue. The 8,000-timber-pieced complex was controversial at first. Plans to construct the “wooden mushrooms” in Seville’s Old Quarter amongst historic buildings seemed out of place. However, $130 million later, the results were stunning. Designed by Jurgen Mayer-Hermann, the Parasol is called Las Setas, which means “wild mushrooms” in Spanish, due to its fungi-like form. The complex houses a central market and a Roman and Moor museum below its deck. Up above, the structure offers visitors views of the Old Quarter from its terraces.
