Question: In 1925, Zbigniew Morón published a rectangle that could be dissected into nine different sized squares as shown in the diagram. The lengths of the sides of these squares are1,4,7,8,9,10,14,15 and 18. What is the area of Morón’s rectangle?

Answer: There are 9 Square with Side
1, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15 & 18

Area of Square = Side²

1² = 1

4² = 16

7² = 49

8² = 64

9² = 81

10² =100

14² = 196

15² = 225

18² = 324

Total Area = 1 + 16 + 49 + 64 + 81 + 100 + 196 + 225 + 324 = 1056

Area of rectangle = 1056

1056 = 33 * 32
