If you get this, you are a critical thinker. I enter the garden. there are 34 people. you kill 30. how many people are in the garden?

Question:: If you get this, you are a critical thinker. I enter the garden. there are 34 people. you kill 30. how many people are in the garden?

Riddle Answer: I enter the garden and there are 34 people in the backyard. It is no was said that the garden and the backyard are the same.

So let us assume that “I enter the garden” means there is 1 person in the garden and there are 34 people in the backyard.

Now the riddle further reads, You kill 34 people. Here in this statement, it is not mentioned that “you” kill 34 people in the garden or in the backyard.

The correct answer to the I Enter The Garden Riddle Answer is 1

  1. Riddle Answer: I enter the garden and there are 34 people in the backyard.
    Where is the backyard mentioned?
I enter the garden. there are 34 people…this is just crap English…how does this indicate critical thining…its more just supposition…so the answer can be many things depending on how it is interpreted

    1. The answer is indeterminate.

The only person we know the location of is the one that says “I enter the garden.”

We do not know the location of the 34 people. Some of those those 34 people may be in the garden. The reader simply does not have enough information to determine an answer. Hence indeterminate due to lack of information.

We think all math problems need a numerical answer.

    2. Furthermore, and probably just as important; it doesn’t say where the people are. Being that it’s written poorly, just because the people are dead, doesn’t mean they aren’t people. They’re just dead.

    3. There is no evidence that supports any other fact than that 30 people were shot and killed in the garden. The rest is purely speculation. 30 is the only answer that’s based on fact.

    4. Exactly, nothing was said about a backyard!!! That certainly makes a difference. All the riddle says is garden. Also nothing is said about the 4 left alive leaving as another answer suggests. It also doesn’t imply that you and I are the same person. So the answer 1 makes no sense!

    5. Since it did not specify 34 people location why assume that they are in the backyard? Well him entering into the garden and him telling that you kill 30 people means he is a witness during a rampage. Therefore it should be 35.

  2. I don’t see anything in the riddle about the ‘backyard” Is the author/solution confused or didn’t read everything? The version of this that I received in the mail didn’t include the backyard either. I’m still confused and obviously not a critical thinker, but I also think whoever wrote this riddle is not a riddle writer either.

    1. I believe the answer is either 4 or 5 because it says I entered the garden there are 34 people in the garden I don’t know if that means now there are 34 people since I’ve entered the Garden or if it makes 35 people you kill 30 so the answer is either 4 or 5

      1. It doesn’t say “there are 34 people in the Garden,” at all! It says; “There are 34 people,” so you don’t know, for sure, where the 34 people actually are. So where did you get that the 34 people were in the garden, at all?

  3. It doesn’t have to say backyard…the statement is “I enter the garden” it doesn’t say there are 34 people in the garden nor does it say you kill people in the garden, it only indicates with a fact of “I entered the garden”, I being 1.

  4. Yes I am a critical thinker and as you may not know it is my best and worst asset/flaw. Where are the 34 people? Where are the 30 people who got killed? Where am I in the riddle? So there are many answers as the question is ambiguous. So for example: You enter a garden so that makes 1 person in the riddle known to be in the garden. So the answer “could” be 1 because there could be 34 people at an outdoor concert in a public park. I could be outside the property line of the parks’ property line sitting in tree and kill 30 people at the concert or I could be at a hotel and shoot 30 people on a busy street. Or I could be at the concert in the same public park and shoot 30 people. Or the you, the 34 people, me and the 30 people I killed are all in the garden. Or maybe I killed 30 Japanese beetles eating my beautiful flowers I planted (which I am famous for in) in MY garden that you entered. AND if I haven’t tortured your readers enough, how many people were in the garden when you got there? I simply do not have enough information to determine an answer. So the answer in truth is actually indeterminate due to lack of information given in this riddle. Nawwww…. I’m not a critical thinker!

  5. You didn’t say the riddle correctly. You left out the part about the backyard. I’ve seen this riddle expressed other places, and with the additional information it makes more sense. You are not a critical thinker.

  6. Hmmm are you and I included in the 34? (The I enter and you kill statements are throwing me off).
If so – I’ll say 4, unless we are also counting dead bodies then I’d say 34. If you and I are not included in the 34, I’ll say 6 or 36 respectively, unless I killed myself as well?

  7. In this riddle there is only mention of one person being in the garden, YOURSELF. Therefore it cannot be assumed anyone else is in the garden whether they are dead or alive so the answer is 1. Those of you who say there is not enough information, fail to realize, that is the point. Essentially, for this riddle, the 34 people and 30 dead are irrelevant, only there to confuse you and make you think you are missing something, when in reality it is much simpler than your mind is allowing you to determine.

  8. lets not assume anything. 1 person is in the garden. That is the only thing that is stated absolutely regarding the garden. The location of Me (“you”) is not mentioned at all, not the location of the 34 people, or the killings. Since we do not know the location of Me or the people the only thing we can say for sure is “There is at least 1 person in the garden, possibly more.

  9. i believe this is a fatally flawed riddle, and no definitive answer can be calculated. if i enter the garden, were there already other people in the garden? there is no reason to assume there aren’t. there is also no reason to assume whether the garden is in the backyard
