1 rabbit saw 9 elephants riddle

Question:  1 rabbit saw 9 elephants while going to the river. Every elephant saw 3 monkeys going to the river. Each monkey had 1 tortoise on each hand. How many animals are going to the river?

Answer:

Let’s solve the question.

1 rabbit saw 9 elephants while going to the river. This part is important because there is a trick. It is only the rabbit, who is going to the river and not elephants. The riddle never says the elephants are going to the river. So the first animal is the rabbit.

Every elephant, that is the 9 elephants, saw 3 same monkeys who are going to the river. So 3 monkeys are going to the river.

Then each monkey has a tortoise on each hand. A monkey has two hands. That’s mean 1 monkey carries 2 tortoises. So, 3 x 2 = 6 tortoise going to the river.

To sum up:

1 rabbit + 3 monkeys + 6 tortoises = 10 animals are going to the river

The tortoises were being taken to the river (not going) so the answer should be 4.
